TRANSlink Commercial Precinct Continues to Grow

Development of the TRANSlink hub adjacent to Launceston Airport continues to grow, signalling continuing investor confidence in the Northern Midlands.

Northern Midlands Mayor Mary Knowles said today Council had approved a further 29-lot commercial subdivision at its meeting on Monday.

“This new subdivision demonstrates that business confidence remains high in the Northern Midlands, due in no small part to the sound economic management by Council which is encouraging business growth and investment,” Mayor Knowles said.

The 13.41ha site bordering Translink Avenue, Boral Road and Translink Avenue South, Western Junction will be subdivided into 28 Commercial sites, ranging in size from 3,000m2 to 6,551m2, with Lot 29 being a drainage reserve for a public detention basin plus road and other infrastructure.

In November last year Council approved a 33.32 ha site in the precinct at Translink Avenue South to be developed for 40 lots ranging from 2,000m2 to 3.9ha, including expansion of a detention basin plus roads.

Mayor Knowles said the fast-growing precinct encompassing the Launceston Airport and TRANSlink Hub was the commercial jewel in the crown of our municipality.

“TRANSlink has grown from a small nucleus of low-key business developments in the late 1980s into a thriving business estate, currently home base for more than 65 businesses , employing more than 1,250 people, not including the businesses and workforce at Launceston Airport itself,” she said.

The many businesses within the TRANSlink Hub included Statewide Independent Wholesalers, Haywards Steel Fabrication and Construction, Roberts Wool Office and Store, Vos Construction and Joinery, Tas Freight, SRT Logistics, Hertz Australia and Baker Civil Contracting.
