Planned fire mitigation hazard reduction burns, Dysart

Isaac Regional Council advises Dysart residents of Bushfire Mitigation Hazard Reduction Burns behind residential areas near Garnham Drive and end of Queen Elizabeth Drive, as indicated on the map below.

Monday, 24 July 2023 and Tuesday, 25 July 2023 from 3pm Weather permitting

Please remove any personal items beyond your yard as the controlled burn operations will occur close to the fence line.

Hazard reduction burns are delivered in cooperation with the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to reduce fuel load in local reserves prior to the bushfire season.

Hazard reduction activity will be subject to prevailing weather conditions. Council advises residents to prepare for possible smoke hazards and related health impacts and recommends the following steps:

Keep all door and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes. Residents with breathing difficulties are advised to remain indoors and have any medication close by. Refrain from hanging out washing to minimise damage from falling embers or smoke. Retract pool covers and stow any outdoor furniture to prevent ember burns. Be aware that snakes and grass rats may be on the move as a result of the burning bushland.

Council apologises for any inconvenience and thanks residents for their patience.

If you require further information please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227).
