Livvi’s Place at Jacaranda Park – Creating a More Inclusive and Connected Community

Council has approved the Livvi’s Place Jacaranda Park Inclusive Playground Masterplan. The upgrade to the large open space within the Amaroo residential area of Moree, will be a welcome addition for the community, providing an engaging space for people of all ages and abilities to gather, play and relax.

The design is in response to the feedback from community consultation conducted by the Touched by Olivia Foundation and online surveys undertaken in late-2021. It is aligned with the Everyone Can Play principles and has carefully listened to and considered the input of the children, teens and families who experience barriers to play due to access.

The universal design will promote adventure and nature play in an inclusive and intergenerational play space.

Mayor Mark Johnson is excited about the delivery of this project to the Moree community, stating “A great amount of planning has gone into the development of the Masterplan, and I would like to thank the local community for their input. This is keeping in line with Council’s long-term strategy for truly inclusive spaces.”

Kim Becherand, Head of Inclusive Play at Touched by Olivia is delighted to see the vision of the community coming to life, “Livvi’s Place at Jacaranda Park is set to become a thriving community hub. A space where we all feel safe, welcome and that we belong. Where we can all meet up, make new friends, and most importantly play together. Local residents, children, teenagers and families wanted it to reflect Moree’s uniqueness, its history, its resources and its people. A place to play, gather, connect and celebrate for locals and visitors alike”.

The $1,434,653 funding available for Jacaranda Park from the NSW Government and Council is to add to its existing public facilities and a Livvi’s Place playspace which will see the addition of the following infrastructure for stages one and two.

Council will commence works at Livvi’s Place at Jacaranda Park Inclusive Playground next week, and we thank the community for all their input in developing the Masterplan.
