Capital Works Program Update - June 2023

Council has an ongoing program of capital works and upgrades to buildings, parks, playgrounds and roads across the Federation Council Region. The following activities were undertaken during June 2023 by Federation Council’s Works teams.

Balldale Road 8km reconstruction – LRCI Grant Works recommenced in June; however wet weather has postponed works.  Maintenance Grading - A higher focus of rural roads for upcoming winter rainfall. Table drain maintenance - Table drain maintenance focussed on customer requests for the upcoming winter rainfall. Please Note: Works were carried out only in zones where no impact can be made on the Sloanes Froglet (between April and October breeding season).  Sealed Roads - Numerous customer requests for pothole repairs on sealed urban and rural roads have been received and actioned with the Corowa based Flocon patching truck and the Urana based Jet Master patching truck. Work is continuous on all roads such as: Federation Way south/north, Jerilderie Road, Boree Road, Urana/Boree/Morundah/Oakland and Rand township and rural roads. The impacts of the flooding and recent prolonged period of wet weather are still significant issues that the operations staff are working hard to get on top of.  Maintenance Crew/Sundry Crew - Culvert installations/Repairs, Patching with cold mix, Guild Post, General maintenance in townships and caravan park, Working on both construction jobs when needed, Flood damage repairs, Fulfilling customer requests, Floating plant throughout the shire, Operating loader in pits and stockpiles and Table drain maintenance. Heavy Trucks - Carting waste/gravel for earthworks, culvert replacement on Cullivel Road Gravel carting Cocketgedong Road, Savernake Road Carting stone for patching trucks and Jetpatcher Carting excess spoil from Mulwala to Corowa Landfill for cover & capping.  TfNSW / RMCC Maintenance works under the RMCC agreement.  Quarries: Planning is well under way for the blasting of 100,000 tons of blast and crushing at the Balldale and Daysdale quarries. The gravels will be used for upcoming RRRP and capital works programs. Awaiting contractor.  Slasher: Cocketgedong Road, Back Berrigan Road, Oaklands and surrounds Going onto: Federation Way south, Bynedale Road, Rand township and surrounds, Boree Creek and surrounds.  Corowa Aerodrome: Line marking (white & yellow) for Runways 05/23, 14/32 and Taxiways to comply with the MOS 139.
