Upcoming traffic changes on Murchison Highway junction at Bass Highway, SomersetThe Department of State Growth is continuing work to replace the Cam River Bridge and upgrade the Bass Highway, between Falmouth Street in Camdale and East Cam Road in Somerset, helping to improve safety, travel time and traffic flow.
As part of this project, they will be installing culverts to drain water away from the Murchison Highway junction at the Bass Highway in Somerset.
They will be installing the culverts over two nights between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am from Monday, 7 August to Friday, 11 August 2023, weather permitting. This work requires a temporary closure of the Murchison Highway junction at Bass Highway in Somerset during working hours.

How will the work affect you?
DSG will be using machinery which generates some noise. They will make every effort to minimise noise by arranging the work in stages at different locations, completing noisier activities earlier in the night and turning off machinery and vehicles when not in use.
Traffic changes
To ensure the safety of workers and road users, motorists will need to detour via Falmouth Street and Simpson Street while the Murchison Highway junction at Bass Highway in Somerset is closed (see map).
Access to the closed section of road will be maintained for businesses and residents under traffic control.
Please keep to speed limits, follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs, and allow up to eight minutes extra travel time during this work.
The Department of State Growth will be continuing to work on the Cam River Bridge replacement project between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm from Monday to Friday and should be finished by the end of April 2024, weather permitting. If bad weather does cause delays, we may need to work on some Saturdays and Sundays between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
We will let you know in advance if DSG need to do any work outside these times.
