The WA Government continues to reach a number of regional communities each year and last week WA Ministers and their staff descended on the Goldfields to participate in both formal and informal consultations and site visits in our region.
Our Shire President and CEO, along with their Colleagues from Kalgoorlie Boulder, Dundas, Laverton, Leonora and Menzies attended a meeting with newly elected Minister for Local Government, Hon David Michael MLA to discuss the implementation of Local Government reforms and provide the Minister with a briefing on the priority issues for regional councils.
The Kalgoorlie Town Hall was the backdrop to a well-attended event where community members from all walks of life could meet the WA Premier and Ministers then participate in a Q&A that served to inform the entire community. Local Member Ali Kent kept the questions flowing that included questions on housing and land supply and Primary Health by Coolgardie Shire President Malcolm Cullen.
Finally, our Shire President and CEO made a special presentation to the Premier and Cabinet on Monday, a unique and valuable opportunity to brief our State Representatives on the importance of activating the Mungari Industrial Estate Development and facilitating ancillary infrastructure such as Power, Water and Roads; opportunities to release and develop land for accommodation and opportunity to partner with WACHS on Primary Health.
Both the CEO and Shire President had a busy few days ensuring our regional voices were heard.
