Fremantle advocacy leads to improved public transport
City of Fremantle 7 Aug 2023

The State Government’s decision to increase the frequency of the 532 bus service through South Fremantle has been welcomed by the City of Fremantle.

The City and community members had been advocating for improved public transport services for the area.

The enhanced 532 service, which will begin in October, will have buses running every 15 minutes in both directions and follows the route of the Blue CAT Bus along South Terrace from Douro Road to the Fremantle train station.

The City would like to thank the members of the reference group for all their efforts and input.

The group was formed to advocate for service redesign to address the need for improved regular bus services in the South Fremantle area following the Council decision to stop funding the City’s share of the CAT Bus.

The City co-funds the CAT service with the Public Transport Authority.

The City of Fremantle also expects to put out an expression of interest soon for a hop on, hop off tourist bus service.

The new service would transport tourists around key Fremantle attractions.
