Skipton district residents are being called to get involved in the preparation of the Skipton Structure Plan.
Corangamite Shire Council is consulting with the community to manage future growth and prosperity of the town.
A community ‘drop-in’ session will be held on Wednesday 23 August in the Skipton Mechanics Hall.
Residents are invited to meet Council staff and the project team between 2.30 pm and 6.30 pm to discuss the project, get further information, and provide their ideas for the future of Skipton.
North Ward Councillor Nick Cole said the plan aimed to help the town capitalise on future development opportunities and provide clear direction on growth.
“The goal is to have a shared vision to help manage change in the town over the next 15-20 years in the community’s best interest,” Cr Cole said.
“The Structure Plan will set a vision, strategies, and a clear action plan for future land use that will help the town grow and thrive.
“It will help create residential, business, industrial and tourism opportunities and protect the Mt Emu Creek environs.
“We want to hear from the people who live in and around Skipton about your thoughts and aspirations for the town’s future.
“What do you think about existing facilities and what do you think the town needs to go ahead?
“I encourage residents to go to corangamite.vic.gov.au/Skipton-Structure-Plan-feedback and fill in the survey, or call 5593 7100 to get a hardcopy. Submissions close 5pm, Thursday 31 August.”
