Three of Wyndham City’s major events and activations have been recognised as national finalists in the 2023 Australian Event Awards.
LIT, the Winter Street Party and Firefly Night Market have all been shortlisted in the top five of their event category, with the winners to be announced on 13 September.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre, said she was delighted to see these three Wyndham City events recognised at a national level.
“It’s an acknowledgement of the hard work and commitment of our staff and of the many artists, performers, makers and small businesses involved in delivering these events,” she said.
“Each one of these events is unique to Wyndham and an expression of our community.”
“This national recognition is something that we can all be proud of in putting our city on the map.”
“In 2023 these free Wyndham City events attracted a collective audience of 95,722, showcasing local talent and significantly contributing to revenue for our businesses here in Wyndham.”
Wyndham City’s free, 10-day based light experience, LIT, has been recognised as a National Nominee for Best Community Event.
The annual street-based Winter Street Party, delivered together with local businesses, artists and community groups, is a National Nominee for Best Small Event.
Wyndham City’s Firefly Night Market, delivered as part of the Tarneit Suburban Revitalisation Program in partnership with the Victorian Government, has been recognised as a National Nominee for Best Small Event and a State Nominee for Best Cultural, Arts or Music Event.
