The City of Rockingham’s libraries will be delivering a number of events and activities for families to celebrate Children’s Book Week 2023.
Children’s Book Week is dedicated to boosting literacy levels in children across the community, and is one of the largest initiatives the City’s libraries support each year.
In 2023 Children’s Book Week will run from 19 – 25 August and is inspired by the theme “Read Grow Inspire”.
This year’s events will be headlined by the annual Book Week Bonanza at Rockingham Library on Saturday 26 August from 10am – 12pm. Community members of all ages will be able to enjoy several activities including an author’s workshop (registrations for the workshop are required).
Mayor Deb Hamblin encouraged community members to head down to their local library and join in the fun for Children’s Book Week 2023.
“Reading is essential to boosting early literacy skills for children and the City is proud to once again support this Australia-wide initiative,” Mayor Hamblin said.
“Children’s Book Week not only supports children’s learning outcomes, it also supports the direction of the City’s Library and Information Services Strategy – which is focused on transforming the City’s libraries into innovative spaces that reinforce the concept of Rockingham as a ‘learning community’.“We invite children who visit our libraries during Book Week to dress up as their favourite book character.”
