Community Invited to Help Shape Two New City Strategies

Over the coming weeks the City of Rockingham will be engaging widely with the community to help inform the development of its new Cultural Development and the Arts (CDATA) Strategy 2023 – 2028 and Tourist Destination Strategy (TDS) 2024 – 2029.

The CDATA Strategy will outline how the City can best support the Rockingham community to engage with arts and culture, to foster creativity and connection – with a focus on key areas including: 

community events, festivals, programs and performancescreative arts, exhibitions and public artthe City’s unique cultural heritageand cultural identity.

When complete, the new Strategy will guide all future cultural development and arts programs, events and initiatives delivered and facilitated by the City for the next five years.

For those wanting to get involved, a community engagement workshop will be hosted on Wednesday 23 August from 10am – 12pm at Gary Holland Community Centre. 

Meanwhile, the Tourist Destination Strategy will guide Rockingham’s position as a tourist destination over the next five years with a key focus on: 

destination and product developmentdestination marketingevent attraction and activationvisitor servicing.  

“To ensure as many views as possible are reflected in the new strategies, the City is also conducting online surveys that all community members can complete,” Mayor Deb Hamblin said. 

For the TDS, there are specific surveys provided to allow input from residents, visitors and businesses. We encourage community members to get involved in shaping these strategies, and we look forward to receiving their input.
