Cambridge Library's 2023 Children's Book Week (19 to 25 August) proved to be an enchanting affair this year, captivating young hearts and minds with a burst of literary magic. The event, brimming with creativity and joy, left children and educators alike spellbound.
Renowned authors Jen Shirrington, Josh Langley, and Karen Blair (pictured) took center stage, kindling the flames of storytelling passion among the attendees. With their engaging tales and captivating narratives, they not only imparted the love of reading but also ignited a spark of creativity through activities, dance, and interactive sessions.
The celebrations extended beyond the library's walls as the library team embarked on a journey to various local schools, spreading the magic of Children's Book Week. City Beach Primary, Kapinara Primary, Lake Monger Primary, and Holy Spirit Primary schools all welcomed the library team, resulting in over 750 students, ranging from Kindergarten to Year 6, experiencing the captivating aura of guest authors. The influence of these literary interactions was palpable as more than 50 teachers also joined in the enchantment.
Cambridge Library ensured the Book Week spirit reached as many eager minds as possible. Despite timetable adjustments, the library extended its reach, touching the lives of at least 100 more young readers through its library services. This commitment to nurturing a love for reading echoes the essence of Children's Book Week - igniting imagination, fostering connections, and spreading the joy of literature.
