Central Highlands youngster Maggie McDougall has achieved outstanding and impressive results within her community involving her beloved sport, BMX.
Maggie was selected for the Australian Bicycle Motorcross (BMX) team back in 2022. She then travelled to France for the World Titles and was awarded 24th overall.
Her achievements are as follows:
7th in Australia/New Zealand Oceania Championships 2nd in QLD State Championships 2nd in Australia on 24” bike 4th in Australia on 20” bike 2nd in QLD state series 1st in Sugar City Classic 1st in Bundaberg Cane Toad Classic 1st at Moranbah Madness 1st at Harbour City 1st at Cairns ClassicMaggie is known for displaying all values of a young, humble, kind, and high-performing athlete who always encourages many new riders to achieve their highest potential despite their age or skillset.
‘I really enjoy mentoring my peers at my BMX club!’ Maggie says.
‘It is rewarding to see people’s confidence grow. I feel I have had all these amazing experiences in my life and want to be able to share that with others,’ she continues.
Maggie’s involvement in the sporting community was deservingly recognised in January by receiving the Junior Sportsperson of the Year at the 2023 Australia Day Awards in Emerald.
‘I greatly appreciate being awarded the Junior Sportsperson of the Year. Someone saw my love for BMX just as much as I do.’
