Following on from last year’s theme of social connection, Seniors Month in 2023 is going to be a ‘Connect Fest!’
‘Seniors month is a great opportunity for Queensland communities to celebrate the contributions of seniors to the state,’ John McDougall, General Manager of Communities.
Various events and activities will be held throughout the month across the Central Highlands, including at council libraries.
The most anticipated event of the month is the seniors luncheon. This year, the luncheon will be held on Thursday 5 October at the Blackwater Civic Centre from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm with buses booked to help transport attendees from across the region.
‘The luncheon is one of my favourite events of the year,’ Mayor Kerry Hayes says.
‘It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with those who have the most life experience in the Central Highlands and acknowledge the valuable contribution that seniors make to our region,’ he continued.
Staying connected, whether as volunteers, community leaders, carers, grandparents or advocates is vital to the health and wellbeing of our community and seniors month aims to highlight opportunities and discover services that promote the social connectedness of our community.
