Gannawarra Shire residents are encouraged to consider applying to join the committee responsible for overseeing emergency management across the municipality.
The Gannawarra Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee is looking to fill its community member vacancy, with the successful applicant to provide local representation to the group.
“The Gannawarra Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee consists of representatives from various emergency management agencies, such as Victoria Police, Country Fire Authority, Ambulance Victoria, Fire Rescue Victoria, VICSES, Forest Fire Management Victoria, Department of Health, Department Families, Fairness and Housing, Red Cross and Council,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“Being a community representative on the Gannawarra Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee is an important role, as you will provide local knowledge to assist these agencies regarding emergency management planning.”
Applicants need to understand Victorian emergency management arrangements, have strong community links and be able to attend meetings held every three months in Kerang.
