e-notices for rates are here!

After a successful trial during the last rates period, council are happy to announce e-notices.

Ratepayers can now opt-in to receive both rates and water notices via email.

‘The community have been asking for this change, and we are happy to have worked through all of the requirements to deliver this service,’ said Chief Executive Officer, Sharon Houlihan.

So what happens when someone buys or sells a property?

Property ownership is only ever updated by council when details are received from the Department of Resources. When council is advised of a property transfer, the old owner’s details will be removed and the new owner added.

The new owners will default to postal notices, however, council will provide details in the change of ownership letter that advises how to register for e-notices.

‘As emails stay with you, unlike your address, there are steps in place to ensure you receive the correct notice if you were to sell your land,’ Ms Houlihan stated.
