Work associated with Stage 3 of the Kerang CBD Redevelopment will resume this weekend, focusing on the western side of Victoria Street, Kerang between Scoresby Street and Victoria Square.
The works, fully funded by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, form part of Council’s efforts to rejuvenate Kerang’s central business district, expanding on work undertaken by Council over the past six years.
“Improvements along the eastern side of Victoria Street are already benefiting business owners and shoppers, and we are excited to see these works begin on the western side of one of Kerang’s major shopping precincts,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
As part of the planned works, preparation efforts to replace paved surfaces will occur on Saturday, 23 September, with the pouring of concrete to occur between the Royal Hotel and Victoria Square between Monday, 25 September and Friday, 29 September.
“Shoppers and business owners are advised that pedestrian access around work sites will be diverted whilst these improvements occur, however Council will endeavour to keep these disruptions to the shortest possible time period,” Mr Rollinson said.
“Council thanks shoppers and business owners for their understanding as these improvements occur.”
Efforts to improving paving along Victoria Street between Victoria Square and OutWork Gym are scheduled for mid-October, with Stage 3 of the project on track for completion before Christmas.
