$3.1 MILLION IN FLOOD ROAD REPAIRS AWARDED MEDIA RELEASE
More than $3.1 million worth of works are part of a number of road repair package tenders awarded at this month’s Council meeting.
Harril Pty Ltd, Northern Constructions Pty Ltd and RECivil Pty Ltd were awarded the tenders to complete these works, funded via Commonwealth and State Government Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, at the September 2023 Council Meeting, held last night.
The works will focus on flood-damaged Council-managed roads and infrastructure right across the municipality.
“The awarding of these tenders is a key milestone in the Gannawarra’s recovery from our second major flood event in an 11-year period,” Mayor Charlie Gillingham said.
“Once completed, these repairs will make it easier for residents to travel to and from their properties via the quickest way possible, as well as provide greater connections between farming enterprises and services.”
The awarding of the tenders provide a defined scope of works for Council to seek a cash advance from government to undertake these works. Council must ensure the pre-approval under the joint Commonwealth and State Government Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements is confirmed prior to works commencing to minimise any financial risk to the Gannawarra community.
It is anticipated that these works associated with the 10 road packages will be completed by mid-2024 pending appropriate Government approvals for the works to proceed. Once works are ready to commence in the coming months, regular updates will be provided to the community informing of any disruption to the road and drainage networks in advance, whilst ensuring appropriate traffic management is in place to minimise disruptions.
Regular updates regarding flood repair works will be provided via Council’s website, Gannawarra News, Gannawarra Connect and Council’s Facebook page.
