A renowned Australian author whose work is being turned into a television series and has been recognised internationally will visit the Gannawarra next month thanks to the Gannawarra Library Service.
Leading crime fiction author, Chris Hammer is bringing his The Seven tour to Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on Tuesday, 10 October from 2pm.
“It is an honour to have Chris visit during his 34-stop tour, with the Kerang visit occurring one week following the release of his new book,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“Chris’s work has been recognised nationally and internationally, especially his first fiction novel, Scrublands, which was named the Sunday Times UK Crime Novel of the Year 2019, won the prestigious UK Crime Writers’ Association John Creasey New Blood Dagger Award and is being turned into a four-part series that will screen on Stan at a later date.”
Deputy Mayor, Cr Jane Ogden, who has known Mr Hammer for many years since they both attended Charles Sturt University in Bathurst, will introduce Mr Hammer and is looking forward to the event.
“Those who attend this event will enjoy Chris discuss how his 30-year journalistic career has influenced his writing, including the use of atmospheric Australian settings, a range of colourful characters, intricate plots, descriptive language and emotional depth,” Cr Ogden said.
