A major renewal of the main oval at Tanunda is set to begin, paving the way for a high-quality playing surface that will complete the redevelopment of Tanunda Recreation Park.
Reconstruction of the oval surface, including drainage and irrigation, will ensure the oval continues to act as a regional-level facility to attract national and state events and support Association football and cricket.
The renewal complements The Barossa Council’s multi-million program of works at the Park, which includes oval lighting, junior oval, cricket nets and new clubrooms and changerooms.
The project, which was included in this year’s budget, has been welcomed by Tanunda Football Club (TFC) and Tanunda Cricket Club (TCC).
TFC president Kym Underwood says it will create a safer, high quality environment for playing and training.
“Naturally our footy club is really excited but really, this is about more than just sport,” Kym said.
