Baw Baw’s over 60s community is encouraged to grab a group of friends and join in a free, guided garden tour of Warragul’s Civic Park, as part of local Victorian Senior’s Festival celebrations this October.
Taking place on Tuesday 17 October, the event will begin with a morning tea and mingling outside the foyer at West Gippsland Arts Centre at 10:30am followed by a guided tour of Warragul’s Civic Park at 11:00am.
Council Open Space Maintenance Officer John Malins will lead the tour, sharing his insights and expansive knowledge of the park, including what goes into plant selection, information about the various species of trees, shrubs and flowers, as well as providing a behind the scenes peek into the park’s maintenance requirements.
The guided tour will also take in the history of the park and its many features, including the two spring-fed ponds, community gathering spaces and facilities.
The tour will conclude at the main pond where attendees are welcome to stay on and enjoy the surrounds.
