Come and work as a vital member of our Facilities team here at Mareeba Shire Council, located within an easy one-hour drive from Cairns offering a regional lifestyle with all its benefits in relatively close proximity to Cairns.

The Role:

Our cleaners provide quality cleaning services for Council facilities, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained.

The cleaning of most Council facilities needs to be undertaken outside of normal working hours.  Our cleaners still work Monday to Friday but may commence work as early as 4:30am and finish work as late as 8:30pm.  Council may accommodate four shift options depending on the availability of the successful candidate:

4:30 am to 1:30 pm 10:00 am to 7:00 pm 4:30 am to 8:30 am 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm

The position is ideally full-time working either a full 8.5 hour day with an early start or late finish or a split shift with 4 hours in the morning and 4.5 hours in the afternoon/evening.  However, if you require some flexibility around fewer hours or are interested in only the 4 hour morning or 4.5 hour afternoon shift, we would still like to hear from you.  Please indicate the days and shifts you would prefer or are available for in your application.  Remuneration will be adjusted accordingly.

What we are looking for:

You will need to have high-level cleaning skills with knowledge of cleaning techniques and appropriate use of materials You will need to have knowledge of the safe use of cleaning products and chemicals and an understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) You will need basic computer skills You will need to be able to work well both autonomously and as part of a team with the ability to work unsupervised and use initiative as required on a daily basis
