Lithgow City Council manages and maintains the water services across the local government area. This includes the maintenance, operation, and the provision of water services to properties and Council water filling stations. Access for emergency situations such as firefighting is also provided via hydrants in the street.
Accessing this infrastructure without approval from Council is illegal or water theft. When Council infrastructure is accessed via these hydrants, issues are created for users such as drops in water pressure, breakages and dirty water can occur.
Water theft places a strain on this critical community infrastructure. Council takes the theft of water seriously. The community can take action to protect the asset and service provided. If you know of, or see a potential water theft case, you can report it to Council for its officers to investigate and take action.
