Free Workshops Available to Support Local Businesses Online
City of Rockingham 11 Oct 2023

Attendees will be able to learn more about the tools they can use to transform their business online, the importance of cyber security and creating a sustainable strategy for social media.

Mayor Deb Hamblin said providing opportunities to support and empower local businesses aligned with the City’s Economic Development Strategy 2020 – 2025.

“Through the City’s bi-annual Business Survey, local businesses have told us the needs they have for training and skill development. More than 70% of businesses identified online marketing and digitising their business as areas of importance,” Mayor Hamblin said.

We know that in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, it is crucial for small businesses to adapt to new technologies and stay competitive – which is why we are excited to be partnering with the City of Kwinana and Business Foundations to deliver these important workshops.

“These sessions will aim to assist our small business sector by harnessing their digital skills, helping them to grow and create more jobs in our local economy.”

City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said "The City of Kwinana's successful two-year Small Business Friendly Approvals Program has led to a comprehensive review of the City's approval processes,” Mayor Adams said.

“Throughout this initiative, we listened to the voices of our local businesses, and their resounding message was clear: they seek a more efficient and modernised approach that would enable them to effectively undertake all business needs online where possible.

“In response to this feedback, we are proud to support a tailored online training program. This program is designed to empower small businesses, enabling them to smoothly navigate the digital landscape, stay competitive, and elevate the quality of their service for their valued customers. This program will support local businesses to thrive in the digital age," she said.

The first workshop, Introduction to Digital Transformation for Small Business, will be held on Wednesday 25 October 2023 from 10am – 12pm at the Gary Holland Community Centre.
