The year 2023 has seen even more enthusiasm for eco-conscious and water-wise practices in Cambridge, turning its streets into sustainable havens for the community. The Sustainable Verge Garden Awards have once again taken centre stage, celebrating resident contributions to the Town's aesthetic streetscape.
In its annual tradition, the awards continue to recognise residents who are dedicated to the improvement and upkeep of their verges, with a particular emphasis on waterwise landscaping. The Town encourages its residents to embrace local native plants known for their low water demand and their ability to enhance biodiversity in the region.
Chief Executive Officer Gary Tuffin represented the Town of Cambridge this year to present certificates to the following award recipients:
Best Sustainable Verge Transformation 1st place: Pamela Bond, City Beach 2nd place: Matt Titmanis, Wembley 3rd place: Lars Purse, Wembley
Best Sustainable Verge Presentation 1st place: Jocelyn Sisson, Floreat 2nd place: Paula Kuka, Wembley 3rd place: Farook & Angela Razvi, City Beach
As we move forward into 2024, Cambridge is more committed than ever to promoting eco-conscious and water-wise verges, ensuring that the Town remains a shining example of sustainable living. The Sustainable Verge Garden Awards will continue to be a source of inspiration for residents, encouraging them to contribute to the town's beauty and sustainability. We look forward to another year of remarkable transformations and presentations as we work together to create a greener, more eco-friendly future for Cambridge.
