The annual celebration of our mighty river system will be held at the Emerald Botanic Gardens on 25 November 2023 from 8.00 am to 12.00 pm.
There will be a variety of educational stalls, activities for kids of all ages, giveaways and a free sausage sizzle.
‘Nogoa November is a major highlight of the year!’ said Mayor Kerry Hayes.
‘What a great way to celebrate our beautiful river system, and the thriving region we are today because of it’ he said.
The Nogoa River rises on the Carnarvon Range and flows generally north-easterly towards Emerald. It connects to the Comet River, and the Mackenzie River.
The Nogoa descends 361 metres and spans over 569 kilometres. The construction of several dams and weirs through the river has significantly increased irrigation works that have helped our agricultural economy and the expansion of the region.
Entry to the celebration is free.
