The Barossa community has played a key role in ensuring what we love about the region is preserved for generations to come.
Mayor Bim Lange described the recent Growth and Character consultation as the most significant since the Character Preservation District (CPD) was introduced a decade ago.
“We received over 700 pieces of community feedback via surveys, online mapping, written submissions, seven listening posts and two community forums,” said Mayor Lange.
“The high quality, data-rich and thoughtful feedback reflects the passion and desire of the community to protect the things they value.”
Mayor Lange said common themes were evident in the feedback, like ensuring future development is compatible with the character of the region.
“While there was support for higher density housing within existing townships, people want to ensure infill development fits local character and reflects the unique feel of local townships,” he said.
“Likewise, people want to see improved infrastructure and services to support a growing community and economic activity, without compromising livability."
