The awarding of $14,220 of funding to six events was the highlight of Gannawarra Shire Council’s October 2023 meeting, held at the Kerang Senior Citizens Centre on 18 October 2023.
The major item of discussion was the awarding of Council’s 2023 Community Grants Program recipients, with Council to provide funding to the following events thanks to the program’s Community Event Grants stream:
Celebrating Koondrook’s Paddleboat Heritage Festival Groove on the Green Kerang Lakes Community Christmas Celebration Federations Murrabit Picnic Quambatook Show Quambatook Swimming Pool Karaoke Fun DayCouncillors also requested for an additional 10 events and projects, valued at $34,425, that had been considered for support via the Community Grants Program to be referred to the Gannawarra Community Resilience Committee for consideration as part of the Flood Recovery Program. These events and projects include Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations, family fun days, school holiday celebrations and musical performances.
A decision regarding the awarding of projects to be supported by the Community Grants Program’s Community Support stream will be made at the November 2023 Council Meeting.
