An exhibition charting the artistic progression of an advanced drawing group will be displayed at Crows Nest Gallery from Wednesday, October 18 to Sunday, November 12, 2023.
Give it a Go, Its Mother Will Never Know is a display of works created by Suzanne McMaster and her advanced drawing group.
As the exhibition title suggests, the works detail how the artists have pushed the boundaries of their skill and skimmed the edges of their comfort zone.
The artistic process from first attempt to finished artwork often is not catalogued, with the polished and framed item being the final offering to the viewing public.
The exhibition seeks to illustrate the journey, both as a celebration of what’s really been achieved, and as an encouragement to those not yet started. The first steps are often clumsy, but that is all right.
Through weekly sharing and critiquing, workshop participants start to find their ‘voice’, gain confidence, develop their own recognisable style and accumulate sufficient bravery to exhibit their works.
Suzanne McMaster lives, creates and teaches art in Toowoomba. As a practising artist, Sue is keen to share her knowledge and help beginners who are exploring their own artistic endeavours.
Students from Sue’s advanced drawing group enjoy the camaraderie and creative outlet the classes provide, while honing their skills and trying new things.
Give it a Go, Its Mother Will Never Know is their first exhibition and celebrates how far they have come.
The exhibition’s Artist Talk event will be held at 11am on Sunday, October 22, 2023. This is a free event and no bookings are required.
