New Council Officially Sworn In

Lorna Buchan was the winner in Comet Bay Ward, while Mark Jones, Peter Hudson and Craig Buchanan were elected to represent Rockingham/Safety Bay Ward. All successful candidates were elected for a four year term, expiring on Saturday 16 October 2027.
City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin congratulated the Councillors on their success.
“Representing the City of Rockingham as an elected member and making decisions on behalf of the community is a very important responsibility, and I must congratulate all of our new Councillors on their success at the 2023 Local Government Elections,” Mayor Hamblin said.
It is an exciting time for our City as we continue to grow, and I look forward to working closely with our new Council in the years ahead.A Special Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday 31 October 2023 to elect a Deputy Mayor and also fill vacancies across the City’s wide range of committees.
Following the election, the make-up of the new Council is as follows:
Mayor – Deb Hamblin
Baldivis Ward – Cr Mike Crichton, Cr Kelly Middlecoat and Cr Brett Wormall.
Comet Bay Ward – Cr Lorna Buchan and Cr Robert Schmidt.
Rockingham/Safety Bay Ward – Cr Craig Buchanan, Cr Caroline Hume, Cr Dawn Jecks, Cr Mark Jones, Cr Leigh Liley and Peter Hudson.
Please note: Peter Hudson was unable to attend the swearing-in on 24 October 2023 but will be sworn in at the earliest opportunity.
