Bicentennial Lakes Sewer Main Upgrade

Mareeba Shire Council wishes to advise residents of planned excavation works to supply and install a new trunk sewer pipeline and water main in Keeble Street, Strattmann Street and Jacobsen Street.

The works will affect traffic movements from Monday, 30 October 2023 to Friday, 8 December 2023.

Keeble Street Friday, 10 November 2023 – Tuesday, 28 November 2023 Sewer pipeline and water main installation in QRail corridor Single lane closure of Keeble Street with traffic control and detours in place.

Westbound lane to remain open.

Wednesday, 29 November 2023 – Thursday 7 December 2023 Sewer pipeline installation Single lane closure of Keeble Street during the day to facilitate stop and go around the work area.

Full closure of Strattmann Street with detours in place.

These essential works are part of a planned Council Infrastructure upgrade to supply and install a new trunk sewer pipeline to service our growing community. The sewer main connects the previously upgraded section upstream from Rankin Street and discharges upstream of the Granite Creek pump station at Byrnes Street.

Council continues to work towards the commitments in the 10-Year Water Strategy, with major projects planned for 2023/24 including $1.6 million allocation for the replacement of ageing water pipes across the Shire which are reaching the end of their useful life.  This work is critical in preventing large scale interruptions to the water supply network.
