Dust off your goggles! The Ararat Olympic Outdoor Swimming Pool will officially reopen to the community on Monday 30 October, thanks to a warmer spring.

Swimmers will be able to take to the 50-metre pool on weekdays in the morning (from 6 am – 9 am) for lap swimming.

Ararat Rural City Mayor Jo Armstrong said the Ararat Fitness Centre’s lifeguards are keen to welcome back community members to the outdoor pool this spring.

“Swimming promotes a healthy body and mind and it’s a fantastic form of exercise,” Cr Armstrong said.

“Located in the Ararat Active Corridor between Alexandra Oval and the Alexandra Gardens, the Ararat Outdoor Pool is a well-equipped Olympic-distance pool that caters for people of all ages and levels of fitness.”

“Council staff have been diligently carrying out safety checks and maintenance on the outdoor pool in preparation for the swim season,” she continued.

“From mid-November, Council will look to extend the Ararat outdoor facility’s hours and uses, including the shaded splash pad and waterslide.”

Willaura and Lake Bolac Outdoor Pools will reopen on Saturday, 2 December 2023 (weather permitting). The Ararat Outdoor Pool will be fully open to the public from Saturday 11 November 2023. Please note that the Outdoor Pools may close if the weather is below 23 degrees.

Keep an eye out for outdoor pool updates via Ararat Fitness Centre’s Facebook page or www.ararat.vic.gov.au.
