Great ideas about the future of Cecil Plains emerged at a “Community Conversations” event in September.
Toowoomba Regional Council Mayor Cr Geoff McDonald thanked the community for taking the time to attend the event and share their ideas on how to make Cecil Plains an even greater place to live.
“The event was well attended and Councillors really appreciated the opportunity to meet residents and get to hear their aspirational ideas about their community,” he said.
“It was great to be able to hear directly from businesses, property owners and residents about what Cecil Plains needs now and what could be done in the future to further develop the town and surrounding area.
“Some great ideas emerged and Council will consider whether the ideas are feasible and can be included in forward planning when funding allows. Ideas ranged from infrastructure requests to provision of social services.
“Some of the ideas raised are the responsibility of other agencies such as the Department of Transport and Main Roads or the Department of Housing.”
Mayor McDonald said the event helped to give Council a better understanding of the community’s needs and aspirations.
Council has referred several road-related matters to the Department of Transport and Main Roads and suggestions relating to housing needs to the Department of Housing.
Other ideas are being considered by relevant Council branches.
