CEO Announcement
Berri Barmera Council 18 Oct 2023

Following a comprehensive selection process, Berri Barmera Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Tim Pfeiffer as the council’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Tim brings to the Council a breadth of experience in local government, most recently as Director Corporate and Community Services and more recently as Acting Chief Executive Officer for Renmark Paringa Council.

Throughout his employment with Council, State Government and private business, Tim has held leadership roles across a broad range of organisations, including expertise in corporate, community and financial sectors.

Mayor Winnall said that Council was delighted to be bringing Tim to lead the team at Berri Barmera. “We had a very strong field of candidates for the vacancy which is a positive reflection on the attraction of our Council and our community as a great place to work and live”. “Tim demonstrated that he had not only the experience to fill the role but an enthusiasm for Berri Barmera – our strengths as a community but also our potential to grow” she said. “Tim is incredibly community minded and will bring a contemporary approach to working with our community”.

“The Council looks forward to working with Tim and to continuing the significant achievements of Council over recent years.”

Tim’s experience in change management and community engagement was impressive and he demonstrated strong skills in leading and developing high performing teams.  Mr Pfeiffer clearly articulated how his strategic mindset and depth of experience in local government could benefit Berri Barmera Council. Mr Pfeiffer offers both a  strong community focus and a balanced economic perspective, that together will help to position us strongly and ensure Berri Barmera Council is recognised for its community spirit, economy and enviable lifestyle.

Tim’s appointment follows from the resignation of the former CEO, Dylan Strong in August this year and Mayor Winnall wishes to express her sincere thanks to Dylan, who served admirably during his time at the Council especially given the extenuating circumstances with the floods.

Mayor Winnall has also extended her thanks to Craig Grocke for stepping up into the role as Acting Chief Executive Officer for several months while the recruitment process was finalised.
