From Monday 6 November 2023, work will begin on Robin Thomas reserve as part of the Parramatta Light Rail project.

Upgrade works to Robin Thomas Reserve’s northern civic and cultural precinct will deliver a new amenities facility for local sporting groups as well as an off-street car park, barbecue area, new trees and landscaping, footpaths, bicycle racks and seating. 

Work activities will include:

partial closure of Robin Thomas Reserve site set up and installation of fencing site and vegetation clearance, earthworks and demolition construction of amenities building and associated facilities, including tree planting and landscaping.

Work hours

Transport for NSW is undertaking this work on behalf of the City of Parramatta Council. Work will start from Monday 6 November 2023 and take around 12 months to complete.

Standard construction hours will be 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays. There will be further notifications for work outside of these hours. See the work schedule at parramattalightrail.nsw.gov.au/weekly-works.

Traffic and pedestrian access

The northern civic and cultural precinct of the reserve will be closed during construction. The southern playing fields, including Hassall Street car park, will remain open as normal.
