Council Elects New Deputy Mayor

At a Special Council Meeting held on Tuesday 31 October 2023, the City of Rockingham Council elected a new Deputy Mayor, with Comet Bay Ward Councillor Lorna Buchan chosen by her peers. 

Cr Buchan was recently re-elected for a second term at the 2023 Local Government Elections, and has been on Council since October 2019. 

Cr Buchan will now serve as Deputy Mayor to Mayor Deb Hamblin for the next two years, until the next Local Government Elections are held in October 2025. 

Mayor Deb Hamblin congratulated Cr Buchan on becoming Deputy Mayor.  

“I wish to congratulate Cr Lorna Buchan on being elected by Council to the important role of Deputy Mayor,” Mayor Hamblin said. 

As the City of Rockingham continues to grow there are some exciting times ahead, and Council looks forward to working together to continue delivering for our community. 

During the Special Council Meeting, representatives for all of the City ‘s Council Standing Committees, Advisory Committees, Occasional Committees and Non-Council Committees were also chosen.
