A much-loved Redlands Coast tradition, Christmas by Starlight, will return this year in its original format and location.

For the past three years, the event was subject to restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said she was delighted that Christmas by Starlight could return to its former glory on Saturday 16 December 2023 at Norm Price Park – Redland Showgrounds, Cleveland.

“Redlanders were well in need of some Christmas cheer during the pandemic but, with public safety paramount, that meant moving to a new location and running a ticketed festival over five days to limit numbers,” Cr Williams said.

“This year, I’m delighted that it will return to its original popular location at the showgrounds and will be free to all with no tickets required, so please mark the date on your calendar.”

The event, which in pre-COVID years attracted more than 10,000 people, will feature live entertainment, free rides, Christmas merchandise stalls, food trucks and, of course, traditional carols.

“Council is currently finalising the program, with some outstanding talent set to be involved, so watch Council’s website for updates,” Cr Williams said.

Another free family event, the annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree, will be held in Raby Bay Harbour Park, Cleveland on Friday 1 December from 5pm-8.30pm, featuring live entertainment, photos with Santa, and a Christmas movie.
