City of Parramatta has introduced a temporary load limit on Bennelong Parkway Bridge that crosses Haslams Creek at Wentworth Point.
A 5-tonne load limit is in place after structural engineers recently recommended investigating the condition of the bridge.
Council has taken the conservative approach to implement the 5-tonne load limit while an additional structural assessment is completed by specialist engineers and plan for any potential remedial works.
Council has liaised with Transport for NSW, bus operator Busway, National Heavy Vehicle Register and Sydney Olympic Park Authority before imposing the load limit, and temporary detours are in place for larger vehicles.
Council is committed to keeping the community updated through this period and we thank you for your patience as we continue to assess this piece of infrastructure.
Variable message signs have also been installed in the area in addition to regulatory signage to assist the community.
The assessment is expected to take approximately 12 weeks to complete.
