Vicki Buttrose’s recollections of trips among Airlie Beach mangrove creeks have inspired her latest exhibition, Nature Coloured, which will be displayed at Rosalie Gallery from November 15 to December 10, 2023.
Vicki takes viewers on an immersive journey to the roots of the sea, the mangroves, in response to dinghy trips along North Queensland creeks.
The interplay of colour and texture, movement and reflections, convey a deep connection to nature through mixed media paintings, ceramics and film.
Mangrove trees have a characteristic growth form, including aerial structural roots and exposed breathing roots, and this exhibition considers the transitions of nature within mangrove forests as they run parallel to shorelines or tidal creek systems.
Vicki’s meditative work explores the ever-changing nuances of the natural world; transporting viewers to untouched elements of nature and igniting a sense of connection and peace.
This exhibition invites viewers to immerse themselves in art and reconnect with nature.
The exhibition’s Artist Talk is at 11am on Saturday, November 18. This is a free event and no bookings are required.
