Governance Manager Bags 2023 Emerging Leader Award

The Town of Cambridge congratulates Cassandra Jaeger, Manager Governance, who was recognised as the 2023 Emerging Leader of the Year at the LG Professionals Western Australia Honour Awards on 8 November 2023.

This well-deserved recognition comes in acknowledgement of Mrs Jaeger’s impressive career journey so far and her commitment to the local government sector and providing outstanding leadership. Town of Cambridge CEO, Gary Tuffin congratulated Mrs Jaeger and acknowledged the contribution she has made to the Town, “Cassandra has worked tirelessly over the past 18 months to really build strong and solid foundations for the Town’s governance. She has built a dedicated team of governance professionals to provide exceptional support, advice and guidance to the Town’s administration and our elected members. We are so proud and delighted to see her hard work and dedication to the Town and the local government sector recognised. I am sure this will be the first of many points of recognition as her career progresses”.

In just five short years, Mrs Jaeger was promoted from an Executive Assistant/Research Officer role with the City of Bayswater to a Governance Manager role. During this time, she helped guide the organisation through the unpredictable challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic before joining the Town of Cambridge in 2022 as Manager Governance. Mrs Jaeger has also been an active member of the local government community taking on a role as the Chair of the IPAA Young Professionals committee and was also recently appointed to the IPAA WA State Committee as a Councillor.

Mrs Jaeger was surprised and delighted by the award. “I am incredibly honoured and surprised to have won this award. I have always aspired to work in local government, and I am so lucky to be able to work every day to make a difference in local communities. I want to thank all the mentors, leaders, and colleagues I have worked with, and I am excited about what is to come in my career,” she said.

The LG Professionals WA Honour Awards recognise local government officers who demonstrate excellence in their field and make exceptional contributions to their local government organisations and communities. The Awards were presented last night at the LG Professionals WA annual conference awards dinner at Crown. The Emerging Leader Award was supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
