Community members, clubs, sporting groups and organisations are encouraged to submit proposals for projects on Council land or in a Council-owned facility.
Alpine Shire Mayor, John Forsyth, said for the second year, Council is putting the community at the forefront of how Council budgets.
"We have been increasing our commitment to engaging with our communities, and it makes sense that we connect with our communities around the budgeting process as early as we can,” he said.
“We were excited to receive over 40 community submissions for the 2023/24 budget, with four of those projects funded in the budget, and another 14 included for delivery without a specific amount allocated to them.
"We'd love to see even more involvement from our community this year, and see what great ideas they have for the Shire that we can consider funding as part of our 2024/25 budget."
While the community has always had the opportunity to make submissions to the draft budget each year, usually around April and May, Cr Forsyth said community submissions are an opportunity to get involved during the development of the budget.
“This will ensure successful proposals are identified and incorporated into the budget early, and the community’s voice is heard during the preparation of this important document," he said.
“We’re looking forward to seeing some fantastic proposals come in - we have some passionate community members out there with great ideas!”
This year, the submissions process will be split into three rounds – the first round for initial ideas, the second round for detailed submissions on ideas Council is keen to progress with, and the third round for presentations to Council.
Contributors will be notified if their project proposal has successfully moved through to the next round as Council works through the budget process.
Community members with any questions or who would like to discuss the 2024/25 budget submissions are invited to chat with Councillors and staff face-to-face at Community Pop-Ups in November, December and January.
