The awarding of $65,454.05 of funding to 19 projects was the highlight of Gannawarra Shire Council’s November 2023 meeting, held at the Kerang Senior Citizens Centre on 15 November 2023.
The major item of discussion was the 2023 Community Grants Program Community Support stream, with funding to be provided to various projects, include food relief and anti-violence programs, storage upgrades, facility improvements, purchasing sports equipment and event support.
Meanwhile, Council Meetings will be held in Cohuna for the first time since 2021 and Koondrook since 2016 following the confirmation of the 2024 Council Meeting Schedule.
Eleven scheduled monthly meetings are planned for February-December 2024, with Councillors to meet at the Cohuna Community Meeting Room in April and October, as well as at the Koondrook Senior Citizens Rooms in July. All other meetings, including the 2024 Mayoral Election, will be held at the Kerang Senior Citizens Centre.
Other outcomes of the meeting included:
The adoption of the dates for Australian Citizenship ceremonies scheduled for 2024; The endorsement of changes to the 2023/2024 Fees and Charges relating to the Quambatook Caravan Park and Road Opening Permits, which came into effect on 16 November 2023; The noting of Council’s 2023/24 Quarterly Budget report as of 30 September 2023; and The decision the lay on the table the list of committee memberships, and Councillor delegates or representatives to each, for 2023/24, with the matter to be addressed at the December 2023 Council Meeting.Three questions from the public were also addressed during the meeting, focusing on car parking regulations within the Kerang central business district, street lighting and emergency service notifications.
