The City of Fremantle supported White Ribbon Day on Friday 17 November with a portrait installation honouring the women and children who have been killed by domestic violence in Australia this year.
White Ribbon Day raises awareness and commits action to prevent family violence against women.
Staff from the City of Fremantle and the Fremantle Community Legal Centre painted 45 faceless portraits and displayed each victim’s story alongside.
On average this year, one woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner.
Community members took time out of their day to come to the Walyalup Civic Centre foyer to sign a canvas, pledging their support for White Ribbon’s cause.
