Wardarnji is back at Esplanade Park
City of Fremantle 21 Nov 2023

The ever-popular Wardarnji returns to Fremantle on Sunday 10 December.

The event will be held at Esplanade Park and celebrates Nyoongar culture and the warmer Kambarang evenings by gathering for an evening of song, dance and storytelling.

Wardarnji will feature traditional and contemporary performances by dancers of all ages and market stalls showcasing local Nyoongar makers, artists and small business owners.

Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge encouraged everyone to come and experience the festival.

"Wardarnji celebrates the rich history of the Nyoongar people, with the sharing of stories and dance from the 14 different clan groups.

"After a number of years at the Fremantle Arts Centre, we are pleased to bring Wardarnji back to the Esplanade, where more people can experience many aspects of Aboriginal culture," Mayor Fitzhardinge said.

Directed by renowned Nyoongar performer and producer Karla Hart, Wardarnji promises to be a truly captivating and unique open-air experience.

It is a free family-friendly event, suitable for all ages.
