To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 22 November Council Meeting.
Petitions Petition for vigil and prayer for people of PalestineCouncil received and noted the petition of 15 signatories.
Council noted that a response will be provided by no later than 28 February 2024, noting that this differs from the allowance for four Council Meetings time specified in Council's Governance Rules.
Council will advise the leader petitioner of Council's decision.
Planning and Development Longwarry Framework Plan Planning Scheme AmendmentCouncil moved to;
Authorise officers to seek authorisation from the Minister for Planning to prepare a Planning Scheme Amendment C152bawb to implement strategies of the Longwarry Structure (Framework) Plan in the Planning Policy Framework and include the Plan as a background document in the Baw Baw Planning Scheme, under Section 8A(4)(a) of the Planning and Environmental Act 1987 (the Act); Authorise officers to prepare Amendment C152bawb generally in accordance with Attachment 1, with the following revision: delete the words 'over the long term' in paragraph 7 on attachment 1 within Strategies for Longwarry, where it refers to the Employment Investigation Area. Authorise offers to exhibit Amendment C152bawb in accordance with Section 19 of the Act. Community Infrastructure Warragul Taxi Rank InvestigationsCouncil noted that community consultation has been undertaken.
Council endorsed the Smith Street, Warragul Taxi Rank remain at its current location and approved removing two of the taxi parking bays at the Smith Street Warragul taxi rank and convert them to standard parking bays with time restrictions from 8:30am - 5:30pm (Monday to Saturday).
Council will advise the lead petitioner of Council's decision.
Governance and Information Services 44-46 Alfred Street, Warragul - Road Deviation and SaleCouncil consented to the sale of land (government road) that bisects 44-56 Alfred Street, Warragul to Alfred Street Developments in accordance with the Local Government Act 2020 and the Transfer of Land Act 1958 and authorised the Chief Executive Officer to sign all associated paperwork.
Council noted the deviation of the road under Clause 2(2) of Schedule 10 of the Local Government Act 1989 to the titles known as - Vol 03428 Folio 422 and Vol 03713 Folio 494 under Officer delegation.
Draft Place and Feature Naming PolicyCouncil endorsed the Draft Place and Feature Naming Policy for community consultation.
Council will undertake community consultation from 24 November 2023 to 18 December 2023.
Baw Baw Shire Council Council Meetings are open to the public and are held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre, beginning at 5:30pm
All Council meetings will be live-streamed, and archived recordings will be available on the Council website for viewing.
The agenda for the next meeting will be available online the Friday prior to the meeting.
