Toowoomba Region residents are being encouraged to download and update the Toowoomba Parking app with a number of improvements now available to users.

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Infrastructure Services Group Portfolio Chair Cr Carol Taylor said the update to the app had taken on board user feedback and would make it easier for people to find a park in the Toowoomba CBD.

“I encourage all users of the app to update it and those who have not yet downloaded to do so as the update allows users to find a park by bay number rather than by zones which is much more user-friendly,” Cr Taylor said.

TRC commissioned the Smart Parking project in mid-2022 and data shows that the changes to on-street parking arrangements in the Toowoomba CBD are being embraced by users with thousands of transactions through the system each day.

“It’s important we reflect and the fact that there are now around 2,100 transactions on average each weekday, 500 on Saturdays and more than 600,000 over the course of the past year, shows the system is working well and being embraced by the vast majority of CBD visitors.

“Council installed 193 parking meters and 3,500 sensors as well as rolling out the Toowoomba Parking app with the project forming the key part of TRC’s CBD Parking Strategy.

“I encourage even casual Toowoomba CBD parking users to download the Toowoomba Parking app which can help you find a vacant space as well as pay for your parking while on the go, even while away from your vehicle.

“Council’s strategy is all about assisting users to make best use of the available on-street and off-street parking to support CBD businesses with patronage,” Cr Taylor said.
