Reflections from Last Year's 2022 Winners of the Christmas Lights TrailAs the Town of Cambridge prepares for the 2023 Christmas Lights Trail, the winning family from last year shares their experiences and the joy their festive displays brought to the community.
The 2022 winners described the impact of their efforts: “Christmas is our favourite time of year. Putting up Christmas lights is a relatively simple thing to do, yet has the power to spark such immense joy! We started decorating our house to help create a little extra magic for our three children. We didn’t realise that the lights would also help initiate so many conversations with neighbours and passers-by. They have really helped us connect with our local community and have hopefully added some extra Christmas magic for other local kids (and adults) too!”
They also shared a cherished family tradition: “We love driving around to see the lights. It's amazing to see our community's creativity. We're excited to see what this year brings!”
Upcoming Event Details and Competition for 2023The Town of Cambridge is excited to announce the return of the Cambridge Christmas Lights Trail in 2023. This celebration of the festive spirit is marked by a dazzling display of Christmas lights by local residents.
The Christmas Lights Trail features a friendly competition to promote festive cheer. Entry is free, with categories for the best home and best street/laneway displays. The awards include:
Best Home Award (General Public): $500 gift voucher Runner-up Best Home: $250 gift voucher Best Street or Laneway Award: A special street sign and promotion on social media and in Cambridge News Important Dates for Participants Registrations close at 5PM on November 30 A $100 gift voucher draw for registered participants will be on December 1 Photo submissions are due by 5PM on December 4 The voting period begins on December 8 and ends on December 21 Winners announced Friday, 22 December 2023 A Celebration of Community and FestivityThe Cambridge Christmas Lights Trail is more than just a decoration event; it's a symbol of joy, community bonding, and the holiday spirit. This event is set to be a memorable experience, combining the warmth of community celebration with the festive magic of Christmas lights.
