Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) funding now available

Posted on November 24, 2023

Arts Queensland has announced funding for the 2023-2024 Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) program, awarding council $41,475.

Combined with council’s contribution and previously returned funds, there is over $68,000 available to individuals and not-for-profit groups for the 2023-24 RADF program.

‘Every year I’m more and more impressed with how local art groups use the grants to better the arts community in our region,’ said Mayor Kerry Hayes.

‘Over the past year, we saw an array of activities funded, including ballet classes, drumming workshops, and local musical performances,’ he continued.

‘You don’t need to be an arts group to take advantage of this opportunity to undertake an arts, cultural or heritage activity,’ said Hayes.

‘I’m particularly proud to see the program encourages ‘creative recovery and well-being’ submissions that support resilience in parts of our region affected by natural disasters.’

Applications for round one are now open and will close on Sunday 28 January 2024. There is a pool of over $53,000 available in Round One. Applications will be assessed by the Central Highlands Arts and Cultural Advisory Committee (CHACAC) on Friday 9 February 2024 and then presented at the next available general council meeting for endorsement, scheduled for 28 February 2024.

The second and final round for the financial year will open on 28 February 2024 and close on Sunday 21 April 2024.

RADF funding has continuously provided valuable social, health and economic outcomes for regional Queenslanders, and supports the state government’s 10-year arts roadmap priorities to strengthen Queensland communities, activate local places, and drive social change across the state. The investment complements the Palaszczuk Government’s wider commitment to regional arts, including continued support of $6 million over four years for the Regional Arts Services Network (RASN).
