The 2022-2023 Edward River Council Annual Report, released this week, outlines the significant progress Council has made during a challenging year marked by both triumph and trial.
The report provides an overview of what has been achieved, what works are underway, and how Council is making Edward River a great place to live, work and visit.
Progress is benchmarked against Council’s commitments as set out in the Delivery Program. Edward River Council Chief Executive Officer Phil Stone is pleased with Council’s achievements, despite major challenges that arose during the year.
“During the past financial year, progress on major projects has been impacted by the significant flooding event but remain on track for delivery albeit with some delays. I’m delighted that we are still able to celebrate several big wins,” said Mr Stone.
Some of Council’s major achievements for the financial year, shared in the report, include:
• Management of and recovery after the significant flood event between November 2022 and February 2023
• The official gala opening of the restored Deniliquin Town Hall
• Installation of Electric Vehicle charging stations in Cressy Street
• Completion of the amenities block for the P & A Society at Memorial Park
• Completion of a Financial Sustainability Review and adoption of its recommendations
• Commencement of construction of stage one of the Edward River Village
• Commencement of construction of the upgrade to the airport runway
• Successful delivery of the Energising End Street project and street party
“Progress has been impacted by the major flooding event, but I am thrilled that we’ve succeeded in delivering a number of major projects for our local communities, as well as our ongoing program of renewal, maintenance and revitalisation.” Mr Stone concluded.
