Residents and visitors to the Gannawarra looking for somewhere to keep cool this summer are encouraged to make the most of the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools.
Extended operating hours of 10am to 8pm for both Gannawarra Shire Council-managed facilities came into effect today, 1 December and will be in place until Thursday, 29 February 2024.
Both pools will also be open from 12 noon to 7pm on public holidays, including Boxing Day and Australia Day, but will be closed on Christmas Day.
“It has been fantastic to see so many people already take advantage of both pools since the season began on 13 November,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“The extension of opening hours means there will be more time for residents and visitors to take advantage of both facilities, whether it is for family gatherings, a day with friends or visiting some of the events planned during the season.”
The summer opening hours also coincide with the start of the popular Morning Laps programs, which begins next week and runs until Thursday, 29 February. Sessions will be held at the Cohuna Swimming Pool 6am-8am Tuesdays and Thursdays, and at the Kerang Swimming Pool 6am-8am Thursdays.
“Residents are advised that the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be closed on days the Bureau of Meteorology website’s forecast temperature for either Cohuna or Kerang is 23 degrees Celsius or lower,” Mr Rollinson said.
“Any changes to opening times, including during instances of inclement weather, will be publicised via Council’s Facebook page.”
Season passes are available to purchase from the Cohuna and Kerang Customer Service Centres, or from either pool during the season.
